In the shadow of the looming Revolutionary War, colonists convened beneath the Liberty Tree on the grounds of St. John’s College in Annapolis to forge plans for rebellion against British tyranny. As the nation grew and matured, so too did the iconic tulip poplar, its roots intertwining with the fabric of American history. Soaring to over 120 feet, this majestic tree stood as a testament to time until its untimely demise during Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

We are honored to announce the planting of a genetic clone of this historic tree along the Cadet Trail, by map marker White 17. Join us for a brief dedication ceremony and historical overview as we celebrate this living connection to our nation’s founding.
