Ever wanted to explore the woods with a map and compass in hand? Orienteering is your chance! This exciting outdoor activity combines adventure, navigation, and a love of nature. Whether you're looking for a leisurely hike or a competitive challenge, orienteering offers something for everyone.
If you love the outdoors and enjoy the thrill of map reading, come experience the adventure of orienteering at McKaig Nature Center! This 7-hour class will provide you with the knowledge and skills to navigate like a pro.
There is no cost for the instruction and course materials, McKaig Nature Center will ask for donations to help defray the cost of classroom heat and portable restroom. Suggested $10 per person.
- 9am - Introduction. Theory part 1. “Map – Terrain – Directions”
- 10am - Orienteering training part 1
- 12pm - Lunch (bring your own food)
- 1pm - Theory part 2. "Why do I need compass?"
- 2pm - Orienteering training part 2
- 4pm - Theory part 3. “Summary”
